A forest above the bay
The Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park lies on the hills right behind Yalong Bay. While the resorts stand in a row down on the beach, up here tropical forest grows with viewpoints, paths and bridges — and from almost everywhere you look down onto the turquoise water.
The forest above the bay and a film
Behind the bay rises the Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park. It's famous nationwide not for its plants, though there are more than 1,500 species, but for a film: in 2010 Feng Xiaogang shot parts of “If You Are the One 2” here, one of China's most successful comedies. Since then couples have made pilgrimages to the suspension bridge and the “trial marriage house” from the film. A well-known TV series was later filmed here too.
The suspension bridge is 168 metres long and hangs about 40 metres above the ground — the longest and highest of its kind on Hainan. There's also a glass walkway with a view over the whole bay and, on the slope, the “bird's nest” villas, treehouses with sea views that you can rent.
What makes a Forest Park visit easier
Come early. In the morning the view is clearest, before haze drifts over the bay, and the bridge is still empty. The shuttle bus takes you up in about twenty minutes; after that, paths connect the viewpoints.
If you'd rather go up on foot, you'll need several hours for the ascent and descent. The hiking trails close at 16:00 in the afternoon, and completely during thunderstorms. It's often windy on the bridge — hold on to your hat and sunglasses.
Our impression will follow after the visit — planned for 09.11.2026.
