Trip.com

As of September 2026 · app interfaces and menu names may change

Trip.com bundles hotels, flights, trains and attractions. Especially important for China: train tickets can be booked with your passport, many admissions and reservations run through Trip.com, and every hotel booked counts towards the rewards programme. Booking management and support are in the app.

⚠ The Trip.com account isn't the same as the traveller on the ticket. For train journeys, each traveller's details must be entered exactly as in their passport.

Step 3 — Add travellers

  1. Open “My Account / Account”.
  2. Look for roughly “Passengers”, “Travellers” or “Frequent Travelers”.
  3. Add yourself as a traveller.
  4. Choose “Passport” as the document.
  5. Enter name and passport number exactly as in the passport, as well as nationality and date of birth.
  6. Create a separate entry for each additional person.
With Chinese train tickets the person must travel with exactly the ID used for booking. There's usually no paper ticket — the passport is the ticket.

Step 4 — In practice: train Sanya → Haikou

  1. Open “Trains”, choose “China Mainland” if asked.
  2. From: Sanya — To: Haikou — choose date — “Search”.
  3. Choose the connection by time, train and class and tap “Book”.
  4. Select the traveller or add them with “Add Passenger”.
  5. Choose the class and, if applicable, seat preference.
  6. Check the summary — name, passport number, date, train.
  7. Pay by credit card.
  8. Under “My Bookings” check that everything is right.
In the official system train tickets usually only go on sale 15 days before departure. Trip.com offers earlier pre-booking for some connections, processed when sales open. Check the current rules in the app.

Step 5 — In practice: Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park

  1. Open “Attractions / Things to do”.
  2. Search for “Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park”.
  3. Compare the Chinese name: 亚龙湾热带天堂森林公园
  4. Choose a date and look at the ticket options.
  5. With shuttles or packages, read carefully what's included.
  6. Check price, cancellation terms and entry, then pay.
  7. Save the e-ticket — offline too, if possible.

Step 6 — In practice: booking a hotel

  1. Open “Hotels”.
  2. Enter the destination — safest is the hotel name, and for the hotels on this website also the Chinese name from the hotel page — plus arrival and departure dates and the number of guests.
  3. Choose the right entry in the results: check the name, location on the map and address. Hotel chains often have several properties with similar names in the same city.
  4. Choose a room and read carefully what's included: breakfast (for how many people?), free cancellation until when, payment now or at the hotel.
  5. Read the notes in the hotel description. Occasionally smaller hotels in China don't accept guests with foreign passports — if there's such a note, choose another hotel.
  6. Enter the guests' names exactly as in their passports. The passport is shown at check-in, and the hotel registers guests with the police.
  7. Pay by credit card and check the booking under “My Bookings”: hotel, dates, room, guest names.
  8. Save the Chinese hotel name and address from the booking confirmation as a screenshot — that's your hotel taxi card right away.
Each hotel booking counts separately towards Trip.com's rewards programme. Booking each hotel individually rather than as a package reaches a higher tier faster — more on the page “Hotels & booking”.
